The objects for which MAM was established are:-
1) To promote matters of medical and scientific interest;
2) To maintain the honour and interests of the medical profession;
3) To form and run a library intended to enhance the objects of the Association;
4) To hold, organize or arrange for the holding of regular medical and scientific meetings;
5) To circulate such information as may be thought desirable by means of a periodical journal, which shall be the journal of the Association, and by the occasional publication of transaction or other papers;
6) To contact, negotiate, affiliate, join, deal or co-operate with medical or scientific professional bodies, organisations or associations inside and outside Malawi;
7) To advise or assist in medical or scientific matters if requested to do so by the Ministry of Health;
8) To liaise, negotiate or deal with the Ministry of Health for, conjunctly with, in the name or on behalf of members in matters connected with or affecting such members or the medical profession;
9) To seek, accept or receive grants, endowments, funds, goods, appliances or other things from foundations, trusts, institutions, associations or any body whatsoever inside and outside Malawi for the promotion of these objects and to administer such grants, endowments, funds, goods, appliances or other things for the purpose for which the grant was made or, if there was no specific purpose, for such purpose as may be determined by the Council;
10) To grant, endow or present sums of money, goods, appliances or other things to members, bodies or institutions for the promotion of the medical or scientific interests of such members, bodies or institutions;
11) To levy and receive entrance fees and subscriptions from members;
12) To establish, maintain, control and manage branches or local committees of the Association in Malawi as may seem expedient, and from time to time to determine the constitution, rights and privileges, obligations and duties of each branch or local committee and when thought fit to modify or dissolve the same;
13) To hire and employ all classes of persons considered necessary for the purposes of the Association (whether or not such persons are members of the Association and to pay to them and to other persons in return for services rendered to the Association salaries, wages, gratuities and pensions;
14) To print and publish any newspapers, periodicals, books or leaflets that the Association may think desirable for promotion of its objects;
15) To purchase, take on lease, exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property and any rights or privileges necessary or convenient for the promotion or carrying out of the foregoing objects or any of them;
16) To sell, improve, manage, develop, lease, mortgage, dispose of, turn into account or otherwise deal with all or any part of the property of the Association;
17) To borrow any moneys required for the purpose of the Association upon such terms and upon such securities as may be determined by the Association;
18) To invest the monies of the Association not immediately required for its purposes in or upon such investments securities or property as may be thought fit subject nevertheless to such conditions (if any) and such consents (if any) as may for the time being be imposed or required by law;
19) To establish and support and to aid in the establishment and support of any other companies or association having objects similar to the objects of the Association;
20) To lend or hire out to any member, person, persons company or association the services of any employee or employees of the Association, or any of the plant, machinery, equipment, vehicles, tools or appliances of the association;
21) To draw, make, accept, endorse, discount, negotiate, buy, sell, execute, issue and otherwise deal in, promissory notes, bills of exchange, bills of lading, warrants, debentures and all negotiable or transferable instruments;
22) To do all or any of the matters hereby authorized, either as principals, or in conjunction with or as trustees, agents, contractors or otherwise for any other companies or persons, or by or through any trustees, agents, contractors or otherwise;
23) To do all such other lawful things as may be concerned with, incidental or conducive to the promotion or carrying out of the foregoing objects or any of them.
